Serengeti & Selous
11 days, 10 nights combined Northern and Selous Safari
Contrast the majesty of Tanzania’s northern circuit with the remote and wild Selous Game Reserve in the country’s southern circuit. This eleven-day tour highlights the incredible variation and vastness of Tanzania’s most sensational wilderness areas.
The tour begins in the baobab-stippled Tarangire National Park, where you will explore this quiet landscape in search of unique species including the oryx, the gerenuk and the Kori bustard. You will then move onto the tranquil Lake Manyara National Park, where game drives will lead you around the flamingo-fringed lake perimeter in search of lions, leopards and zebra. Traveling through the Olduvai Gorge, the crux of this experience occurs on the infamous plains of the Serengeti where, over three days, you will search for the members of Africa’s coveted Big Five species and perhaps, the Great Wildebeest Migration. Of course a tour to Tanzania would be incomplete without a visit to the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest unfilled volcanic caldera. Over further game drives here, you will explore this prehistoric looking landscape as you search for further intimate wildlife encounters.
The tour concludes with a unique experience as you embark on boat, walking and vehicle safaris through Africa’s largest protected game reserve: Selous. In this untrammelled landscape, you will have a few final moments of solitude and adventure as you search for favourite and new species, before eventually returning to Arusha for your journey home.
